Brian Ellington is a 2008 RHP with a 6'4'', 180 lb. frame from Gainesville , FL who attends Oak Hall HS. He has a tall lean athletic frame with broad shoulders and narrow hips. Ellington is a very good athlete who can really run (6.71 60) and play defense in the outfield. He shows good raw bat speed but could improve mechanics at the plate. Ellington's pitching mechanics are also on the raw side but his athletic ability enables him to make adjustments and throw enough strikes with his top level stuff. His fastball was 89-92 mph from a whippy arm action and high 3/4's release point. He flies open at release and shows some effort to his delivery. Ellington's best pitch is a mid 70's curveball that has a hard downer break and good depth and he also throws a low 80's split fingered change that has some sink and fade to it. Ellington has always shown good command of his curveball and change up. His long and loose body and arm give Ellington plenty of projection and he already has three quality pitches. As he gets stronger and improves his pitching mechanics, Ellington will continue to improve as long as he stays healthy. He is a good student with a verbal to Florida State.

Brian Ellington is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from Gainesville FL , who attends Oak Hall HS. He has a young body, with long arms and legs and very projectable strength. Ellington has a complicated, long delivery, with a very long arm circle and extended 3/4's release. His lower half tends to be unnecessarily stiff in is delivery and he has exaggerated upper body rotation. Ellington's two best pitches this day were his curveball and change up. His curveball ranged in velocity from 66 to 74 mph and at the higher velo's had frequent hard spin and big downer biting action. The spin and bite were less consistent at lower velocities. His 76 mph change up was also a very good pitch and he had confidence to throw it at any time in the count. Ellington commanded his off-speed pitches much better than he did his fastball. His fastball velocity was steady at 86-88 mph and touched 90. He appeared to be throwing with more effort on his fastball. Ellington has all the tools and projection to be a high ceiling prospect and should continue to improve as he makes adjustments to his delivery and his approach. Any time you see a pitcher with a FB that touches 90 mph and that's his third best pitch you know you have something to work with.

Brian Ellington is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from Gainesville FL , who attends Oak Hall HS. He has a long, loose body that projects very well. Ellington was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. He is an unusual young pitcher in that his curveball and change up are much more advanced right now than his fastball. Ellington throws from a high energy, multi-piece delivery with deep back side extension and a quick and loose arm stroke. His curveball is a knee buckler, big and deep with lots of 2-plane break at 72 mph. Ellington commands his curveball well and will get lots of strike outs on it. His change up is of similar quality, 78 mph with very good life and deception. Ellington's fastball topped out at 90 mph and had good life when he got it in the strike zone. He doesn't have the command and feel for his fastball that he has for his off speed pitches and we've seen that on other occasions as well. Ellington easily projects to gain velocity as he physically matures and if he develops a feel for his fastball while maintaining the quality of his CB/Chg, he could be really, really good. Ellington is a very good athlete who can run (6.95) and swing the bat a bit, so that points him in a good direction for improvement. Keep a close eye on him, Ellington has a high ceiling.

Brian Ellington is a 6'3" 170 pound 2008 right handed pitcher and outfielder from Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a tall lean body that is very projectable. Brian throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long clean arm. He has a low effort delivery and pitches to the corners. He throws a four seam fastball at 86 mph that is fairly straight and a two seam fastball that had arm side run and late sink at 83 mph. At the plate, Ellington hits with a wide open stance with a good set up. He has strong hands and is developing more strength. He has good bat speed and goes to the opposite field very well. Brian is a very good looking prospect who will continue to improve.
