Andrew Semo is a 2018 C/OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Coronado, CA who attends The Bishop's HS. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a straight, balanced stance. Creates some front side coil at load building torque. Creates good shift into contact with linear lower half mechanics. Compact, line drive swing plane with some leverage through extension. Swings with intent to drive the baseball into the gaps. Present bat speed and strength at contact that creates loud contact and jump off the barrel. Very simple and repeatable path. Swing projects well for the next level. Worked out defensively from behind the plate, outfield and infield. From behind the plate shows a quick exchange into a high effort, compact arm action. Creates some cross body action at times. Gains good ground towards the bag at release resulting in very accurate throws with carry, topped at 81 mph. From the outfield shows smooth paced actions while closing on the baseball and working through transition. High energy, high three-quarters arm slot that at release. Accurate the bag with good carry. From the infield shows solid glove actions with good range to both sides. Overtop arm slot with an high energy release. Athletic actions throughout with easy effort through slow roller. Graded best as a catching prospect at this event. Good student as well.
