Joseph Devine is a 2007 RHP/MIF with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame from Henderson KY, who attends Owensboro Catholic HS. We saw Devine at the World Underclass Showcase 6-7 weeks previously and saw a different prospect this time around, perhaps one that is in better throwing shape. Devine is a young junior with a young face and body. He has long limbs and a loose, floppy arm. He throws from an "El Duque" style delivery with a big leg raise and good balance. Devine's arm stroke is very long and loose and he has some wrap in back. His release point is extended 3/4's and with his long arms the ball looks like it's coming from behind a right handed hitter. It's also very fast and Devine was able to throw his fastball 84-86 mph with very good late life that jumped on right handed hitters hands. Devine's breaking ball was 71-74 mph and was very sharp at times, with a big, late break. Right handed hitters were very uncomfortable in the box with Devine on the mound and there were probably more bad swings against him than any other pitcher. Devine did a good job of throwing to spots for a young pitcher and had an idea on the mound. This young pitcher could throw very hard one day with his looseness and arm speed and he's already scaring hitters a bit. Devine also swung the bat well at the showcase. He has a good swing path, with quick, quiet hands and nice bat speed. He centered the ball consistently and had good leverage on contact. Devine is a top level national follow and should be watched carefully. He is also a good student.

Joseph Devine is a 2007 RHP/MIF from Owensboro Catholic HS in Henderson, KY, with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame. He's very projectable with a lean build and large feet. He has athletic actions in the field while playing defense in the infield and on the mound and takes that athleticism to the mound. He has a balanced delivery with a high leg kick. Devine's arm works smoothly and he pitched effectively to both sides of the plate with command once he found his release point. His fastball has some tailing action from a 3/4's release point and topped out at 82 mph. Devine's curveball flashed good rotation at 67-69 mph and should continue to improve with more consistency. Devine worked quickly on the mound. His raw stuff should continue to improve as he adds strength and he already has a developing idea of how to pitch. Good follow. Devine is also a good student.

Joseph Devine is a 2007 RHP/3B from Henderson, KY, with a lean build that shows good core strength at 6-1, 170 lbs. Defensively, he shows good arm strength, with accuracy and carry. He has smooth, polished fielding actions with a solid glove. He hits from a balanced stance with a line drive swing plane. He has some bat speed with gap power potential. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with solid mechanics. His FB is at 81 mph with some life. His CB is his best pitch at 68 mph with a late 11-5 bite. He is a high level prospect and a good follow for 2007. Joseph is a good student.
