Jack Schmidt is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-6 225 lb. frame from Cooper City, FL who attends University School Of Nova Southeastern University. XXL frame, broad shoulders with long limbs, strong build with still even more room to fill out. Solid delivery, maintains good pace and has good body control for player of his size/age. Works to a tight high 3/4's arm slot, longer arm-action with some push on backside, gets through well and generates extension over frontside. Slightly tilted shoulders with body lean to third base side, energy at release. Fastball up to 85 mph early, pitch has armside run, shows solid command of offering. Changeup in low-70s has some fade, diving action when located down in the zone. Also flashes feel for slider, has short depth and tilt, still developing consistency. Upside and tools on the mound. Also plays first base, has strong, accurate arm across the diamond, up to 84 mph in defensive workouts. Left handed hitter, pull-oriented approach with loft in swing, has strength and power potential. Excellent student. Named to Showcase Top Prospect List.
