Brandon King is a 2008 OF/P with a 6'2'', 175 lb. frame from Wellington FL, who attends Wellington HS. He has an athletic, projectable build that can combine strength and quickness. King was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. King is a very good runner who if he maintains his speed while getting stronger is going have a very good speed/power combination. He ran the 60 in 6.88 and has smooth, easy acceleration in the outfield and on the bases. His defensive tools are first rate, he has very good arm strength and easy range and actions. Offensively, King has strong, quick hands and has good bat speed. He hits from a no trigger/still start approach, which doesn't do him any favors right now. He stays back well on the ball and has good balance. King has the tools to really come on as a hitter, especially as he gets stronger. We understand that King is a very good pitcher as well, although he didn't take the mound in Fort Myers. This is a high celing young talent that needs to be carefully watched.
