Yamil Chavarria is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Miami Killian HS. Has a young look with room to fill out physically as he further matures and adds strength to his frame. Posted a 6.82-sixty yard dash and has a good first step out of the box. From the outfield, approached the baseball with short footwork to the baseball with quick feet. Showed full arm action into his throws with solid quick twitch and strength to his throws getting up to 81 MPH. Should continue to see even more strength as he consistently gets on top of throws. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a slightly open stance. Displayed a good weight shift into contact into a short, compact swing. He has quick hands and solid barrel control, good fundamental approach and polished swing. Also showed some natural lift through the point of contact that could lead to power potential down the road. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with long arm action. Has natural tilt in his delivery with solid arm speed. Flashed a 11/5 curveball with good shape and break. Good student.
