2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Gus de Simone is a 2007 RHP/OF that attends Bishop Shanahan HS and resides in West Chester, PA with a 5'9", 155 lb. build. Gus has a lean athletic build with room to fill out. On the mound Gus throws from an OH arm slot with a short compact arm action. He has some slight run on his fastball and is efficient with his pitches making hitters put the ball in play. Gus showed a solid 12 to 6 downer curveball but needs to get some more extension to maximize his velocity. At the plate Gus show a good approach with quick wrists and the ability to turn on the ball well. He will wrap the bat some but this can easily be fixed with some adjustments. In the outfield Gus has good footwork with solid actions. He runs fairly well (7.28) and has adequate arm strength. Gus is a player that could project as a two-way player at many mid-level college programs.
