Scott Zipse is a 6'2" 210 pound 2007 catcher, infielder, and right handed pitcher from Santa Clara, California who attends St. Francis High School. He has a large frame and a strong thick body. During the workout, he ran a 7.41 60 and threw 73 mph from behind the plate with a pop time of 2.09. He as the durability of a catcher to handle an entire season behind the plate and has a very quick accurate release and along with his good footwork it allows him to keep base stealers in check. Scott has a balanced aggressive swing and hits the ball squarely to all fields. He knows how to put the barrel of the bat on the ball and use his strength to his advantage. Zipse is a good middle of the line up bat and produce some runs at the next level. On the mound, he shows good arm speed by throwing 81 mph with his fastball that has occasional sink to it. His curveball has good spin with an 11/5 tilt at 65 mph. Scott has a good balanced delivery with a compact arm action. He moves the ball in and out very well and has a good finish that allows him to do it. Zipse is a high level prospect with a projectable body.
