Samuel Twombly is a 2007 OF/P with a 5'11'', 200 lb. frame from Saratoga, CA, who attends St. Francis HS. He has a strong body. Defensively he has good arm speed on his throws from the outfield, and shows arm strength. He gets good rotation on his throws and shows arm strength at 82 mph. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance and a high back elbow. Twombly took a very good BP hitting line drives to all field with strength in his swing. He likes the ball down and is patient with off-speed pitches. During game action he had a ball come off his bat at 88 mph. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a balanced delivery. He uses the whole plate and throws strikes. Twombly's fastball topped out at 74 mph with sink and tailing action. He also mixed in a 60 mph CB and a 63 mph CH.
