MD Johnson is a 2016 RHP with a 6-5 180 lb. frame from Red Oak, TX who is Home Schooled. Tall and lean build, very projectable physically. Up tempo delivery with plenty of moving parts, looks like an uncomfortable at bat for any hitter, gets good angle to the plate on his pitches, still working on consistency and repeating, has animated actions on the mound as well. Fastball topped out at 92 mph, mostly straight, rode many up over hitter's hands. Curveball release not consistent but flashed power and hard spin with occasional big 11/5 depth. Change up gets good fading action. Arm strength and deception are there and we've heard bigger velocity numbers from the spring. Learning to repeat his mechanics will be key in his development.
