Cooper Hering is a 2016 3B/2B, IF with a 5-9 185 lb. frame from Alvord, TX who attends Alvord. Medium, broad shouldered build with strength throughout frame. Primary third baseman, short steps to the ball and fields it out front, compact arm action through the back side, accurate throws and shows some strength across the diamond, will continue to develop with incorporation of lower half. Also pitched, works from a high three-quarter arm slot, loads weight on backside before coming to the plate. Fastball topped at 73 mph, mostly true in life and flashed an 11-5 curveball at 62 mph. Left-handed hitter, starts starts with an open, crouched stance and a lower hand set that loads at start of swing. Upper body swing with line drive path, stays short to the ball with quick hands. Leg lift trigger for timing at beginning of load, creates contact and has feel to go to opposite field. Very good student.
