Luis Valbuena is a 2016 OF/ with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Doral Academy Charter. Medium, compact frame, tightly-wound athletic build, full of quick twitch muscles. Good footspeed, overall athleticism, ran a 6.68 60-yard dash. Right handed hitter, wide base with high back elbow set. Toe-tap timing, solid weight shift, can get a bit rotational at times, shows good bat speed with strength in the wrists and forearms. Flashes jump and carry off the barrel, especially to the pullside, solid line-drive swing plane, has ability to wear out the gaps. Good defensive actions in the outfield, moves well to ball, fields out in front, flashes ability to work through with lower half, when on top of ball throws have good carry. Up to 86 mph in defensive drills. Very good student. Named to Showcase Top Prospect List.
