2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
McPherson is a 6-2, 190 lb catcher from Florida with a strong athletic frame. He ran the 60 in 7.39 on the slow track and threw 76 mph from behind the plate in workouts with a best pop time of 1.98. McPherson had a couple of game pop times between 2.17 and 2.31 and did a very good job blocking pitches during the showcase games. His actions behind the plate are quick, especially for his size and body type. Offensively, McPherson has a good approach at the plate with a somewhat long swing that generates power to the right side of the field. He should work on shortening his swing, especially to be able to get his hands through quickly on inside pitches and is probably a better hitter right now with metal in his hands instead of wood. He is going to be a productive player at the college level.
