Reece Eddins is a 2014 RHP/3B with a 6-5 185 lb. frame from Lee's Summit, MO who attends Blue Springs South HS. Tall young build, athletic look, lots of projection. Simple pitching mechanics, stays compact and tall, long loose arm action, high 3/4's extended release, ball comes out of his hand easily. Mid 80's fastball, topped out at 87 mph, has some run and sink at times, maintained velocity better than most young pitchers. Big breaking curveball with tight spin, good 11/5 shape, curveball has a chance to be a very, very good pitch. Tends to shorten arm arch on change up, still a developing pitch. Works quickly and is around the zone with his pitches. Showed his athleticism with the bat, good bat speed, short swing for his size, consistent hard line drive contact, simple repeatable swing mechanics. Very interesting projection who could develop into a draftable player in the next year. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Nebraska.
