Brad Pitz is a 2005 catcher from Canada. The Ontario Blue Jays brought two strong catchers down to the Midwest Showcase in Brad Pitz and Justin Worby. Both showed college and possible pro level tools and skills. Pitz was especially strong on defense, where he shows good arm strength and very quick actions, along with a willingness to block pitches. He’s physically strong and mature now, especially in the upper body. At the plate, Pitz hits from a balanced stance with lots of extra hand action that leaves his hands well separated from his body and not always in good hitting position. Pitz uses his strength well, though, and shows good pop on contact and some extra base potential. He has the potential to improve as a hitter and the metal bat will help him. He can play at a high level.

Pitz is an "04" catcher from Ontario. At 5'11/182 he is strong and well distributed. We've seen him several times and he always leaves us with the impression he'd rather play baseball than eat. In CR he popped a 2.06 with good 77 mph velocity. He receives the ball and moves very well behind the plate. As a hitter he seems to have some drag in the trigger, but he's real good through the zone. He hit the ball very well on this weekend including a few off the wall. While his swing is a bit sticky and mechanical it works very good for him. Brad is a good student and should do well at the next level.

Pitz is an "04" catcher from Ontario who shows a real love for the game. At 5'11/182 he is strong and well put together. He's an excellent receiver with quick feet, good hands and a strong arm. He just keeps getting better each time we see him. He popped under 2 flat with an impressive 79 mph velocity. Pitchers seem to like throwing to him. He gives it all he's got every minute he's out there. Pitz also has some very good hitting ability. He does have a tendency to over stride at times, but he creates excellent bat speed and hits the ball hard. He has a nice short stroke with power potential. He's a tough kid who plays for keeps. You gotta love him. Brad is a good student.

A Canadian native, Pitz has some nice quickness behind the plate on defense and plenty of arm strength for the position. He generated some pop times below 2.00 in workouts and showed good effort in the games. Pitz has good strength for his size with a bat in his hands and showed us a line drive swing and a willingness to hit the ball to different fields. He's a very good receiver who will really help a good college program. Brad is a good student as well.

Brad is tough catcher with excellent arm strength. He has a strong athletic body and works hard behind the plate. His arm was above avg at 78 and popped around 2.0 flat in the workout and the games. Good catching skills including hands and feet. He shows a nice swing and shows hitting ability. Definite follow for 04 catchers, has a chance to be real good.

Pitz is a catcher and an outfielder from Ontario, Canada. He showed us some good looking baseball skills and toughness throughout the weekend. He took possibly more swings in the hitting instruction and hitting stations than anyone else this weekend in Indy. He can swing the bat and showed durability and it was clear to us that he was there for one reason, to hit. He is a Junior who showed good athleticism as a catcher and a desire to train and compete in baseball at the highest level possible. His body is tight and strong and his swing fits his body type well. He has a short and fast swing that can punish the ball repeatedly. He has an offensive mentality at the plate. In fact, he had an offensive mentality with every drill he practiced. His swing is more of a low ball hitters swing with a level path. He has a good short stride and a spring loaded body rotation, but he did lack a little flexibility in his finish. Defensively he has a lot of bounce in his legs and very quick feet. His transfers were good and he got out quickly. He showed pop times of 2.05 and 2.09 and he threw most of them around the bag. We clocked his throws to second base at 73 and 74 mph which is good and he made throws from the outfield that were clocked at 77 mph. He has a good quick arm and it will only get stronger as he matures. His receiving in the bullpen was as good as we saw in Indy. Pitz plays the game confident, sharp and takes pride in setting up and presenting the ball the best way he can in order to help the pitcher. He caught the bullpens at an easy level and we think his overall package is a real good one. We think he is a good fit as a high level catcher and will help any team he plays for. We would want him on our team.
