Matt Simmerman is a 2015 1B/C with a 6-1 225 lb. frame from Shelbyville, IN who attends Shelbyville HS. Large frame with current strength. As a first baseman, stays in front of the ball, comes through it well, stays low, feet work, good arm strength. As a catcher, medium length arm action, good extension, projects out higher as a catcher. Right handed hitter, short swing, stays short to the ball, simple mechanics at the plate, line drive swing plane, flashed power potential when ball was squared up. Excellent Student.
