2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Daniel Fowler is a 2006 shortstop/outfielder from Valdosta High School in Valdosta, GA, with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame. He has a lean and athletic body with a quick first step. Defensively he has nice footwork in the middle of the diamond with soft hands and good actions. Fowler showed range to both sides during the workout and the showcase games with good body control. He also showed a nice backhand with solid online throws from deep in the hole. At the plate, the right handed hitter takes a short stride with a slight back lean in his swing. Fowler has a line drive swing plane with solid bat speed, and is looking to put the ball in play. He stays balanced throughout his swing and shows some power at contact. Fowler has the hands to make adjustments and use the whole field. He is a solid all-around player.
