Wesley Brooks is a 2016 1B/ with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Suwanee, GA who attends North Gwinnett. Large frame, strong build with present strength throughout. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Linear lower half mechanics while producing good shift into contact. Uphill swing plane with leverage that produces present bat speed. Primarily worked the middle of the field in batting practice but showed the ability to turn the barrel and drive the ball deep into the pull side gap. Swings with intent to drive the baseball with good extension through contact. Balanced throughout swing with good barrel control allowing for consistent, hard contact. Worked out defensively from first base with smooth funneling glove actions. Quick feet while moving to both sides with solid range at first base, also showed fundamental footwork around the bag while setting up to receive throws. Loose, three-quarters arm action across the infield with a downhill plane topping at 83 mph. Good student. Committed to Florence-Darlington Technical College.
