William Van Winkle is a 2007 OF/P/1B with a 6'3'', 220 lb. frame from Gainesville FL, who attends Gainesville HS. He has a very strong, well developed athletic body that looks like what football coaches are looking for at the linebacker position. Van Winkle has good agility for his size, running the 60 in 7.25. At the plate, Van Winkle has a very aggressive, full swing and shows plus, plus raw power on contact. It's an all of nothing approach but when Van Winkle makes contact, the ball jumps. He hit about five balls out during BP on a full size field, all of them to left center field. During games Van Winkle's balance and timing is inconsistent but the raw bat speed and power are still there. Defensively, Van Winkle shows very good outfield arm strength. He showed the same teype of arm strength on the mound, throwing 85 mph from a high energy delivery with a ncie 70 mph curveball. Van Winkle has lots of tools and looks like he's just beginning to learn how to use them. A good coach has a chance to get a lot out of this athlete.

William Van Winkle is a 2007 OF/P/1B with a 6'3'', 220 lb. frame from Gainesville FL, who attends Gainesville HS. He has a big frame and plus present strength. Van Winkle is mobile and athletic for his size. He ran the 60 in 7.35 and moves around the field well. He showed good defensive actions as a corner outfielder with a strong, accurate throwing arm. At the plate, Van Winkle takes a high energy, high effort swing that creates plenty of bat speed. He hits with low hands and a big hand hitch, which leaves his timing a bit random and usually late, but when he makes contact the ball jumps. If Van Winkle developed a more consistent way to get the bat started and maintainted a bit better balance in his swing, it would be easy to see him with plus power in the future. The strength and bat speed are there, along with the aggressiveness. Van Winkle also pitched a bit and showed some tools on the mound. He topped out at 84 mph from a high 3/4's release point and threw a tight 69 mph curveball.

William Van Winkle is a 6'3" 215 pound 2007 right handed pitcher and outfielder from Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Florida who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He is a big strong kid who is very athletic. William throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a fast arm and a drop and drive delivery. His fastball has good sink at 80 mph and when he throws it up in the zone it rides up on the hitters hands. He also throws a 11/5 curveball at 73 mph which is very sharp. At the plate, Van Winkle has a very aggressive swing. He has a narrow stance that is very balanced and showed excellent bat speed. He hit some home runs during batting practice that showed his big time power. William is a high level hitter who should continue to improve.

Van Winkle is a 6'3" 195 pound 2007 right handed pitcher and outfielder from Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Florida who is a good strong athlete with good speed and arm strength. He throws with a short arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. Williams fastball bores in on a right handed batter at 80 mph. His curveball is his best pitch at 70 mph with good tight rotation and sharp break to it. As a hitter, he is a line drive hitter who is very aggressive. He has a very projectable body and is a potential two way prospect.
