Brandt is a 5-9, 155 lb senior outfielder from Arkansas. He has very good speed and quickness, running the 60 in 6.86 and getting down to first base in 4.26. Brandt showed good range in the outfield as well and has college level arm strength at 81 mph. Although he's listed as a switch-hitter, Brandt only hit left handed during the showcase. We don't feel like we saw the best that Brandt had to offer at the plate. He has busy hands and feet prior to starting his swing and wasn't usually ready to get the bat going. He had a short, compact contact oriented swing. Good athlete who should be followed for improvements at the plate.

Barnes is a 5-9 junior outfielder from Arkansas with a wiry strong 160 lb frame. His raw tools are very solid. Barnes was the second fastest player at the Showcase, running the 60 in 6.69 and getting down to first base in 4.35. He also had one of the top throw velocities from the outfield at 84 mph and showed good outfield actions on defense. How high Barnes plays will probably be determined by his development with the bat. He hits from a balanced stance with a leg lift trigger and high hands. Barnes gets little weight shift through the ball and tends to be long and around the ball on his swing. He can definitely improve with some mechanical adjustments because of his athletic ability. Barnes also threw a couple of effective innings from the mound. He as mostly 73-74 mph on his fastball and threw a 65 mph curveball and 68 mph change up. Barnes has a simple delivery, mixed his pitches well and threw strikes with all three, with good results.
