Brad has developing pitching mechanics and finds the balance point pretty well. Brad uses a high leg kick and finishes in a balanced position. Brad has a shorter arm action takes the ball straight back from his glove at hand break. At the plate, Brad starts with a wide stance and stays balanced through his swing. Brad stays back on the ball well and uses the whole field well. Brad moves around the base well at first base and shows developing softness in his hands. Brad is a good student.

Brad Merritt is a 2007 right handed pitcher/first baseman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a 6'0", 235 lb. frame. Merritt uses a high leg kick with a short arm arch on the back side. His fastball topped out at 67 mph with some late life. His curveball topped out at 55 mph with an 11 to 5 break. He struggled with his control on this day, but has projection on the mound. Offensively, his swing gets long at times causing inconsistent contact, but he has strength in his swing that is developing. Merritt had solid hands defensively at first base, and had good footwork around the bag. He is also a good student.
