Daren Ortiz is a 2015 SS/2B, 3B with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Bradenton, FL who attends Braden River. Medium, athletic, lean build with room to add strength. Ran a 7.43 60 yard dash. Bats right-handed, uses a pull side approach and drive the ball consistently. Gets good extension out front and stays balanced through his load. Flashes good bat speed and power potential. Pulls off at times, but overall a consistent swing. Shows solid infield range and agility. Flashes above average arm strength and gets the ball transferred quickly.
