He has a balanced and simple hitting approach with solid bat speed. The ball jumps hard and he shows power andlift in swing. At the plate he demonstrates good discipline and pitch selection. Cal Faul is a 2008 OF/RHP from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a solid 5'10", 175 lb. frame. Faul showed good arm speed from the outfield with solid carry and accuracy. He has good arm strength, but could use his lower half more on his throws from the outfield. At shortstop he showed quick feet with good hands and made the plays. Faul shows bat speed with a slight lift in his swing. He has power potential, but he sometimes gets his weight on his front side early, taking away some of his power potential. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a nice and easy arm action. His fastball topped out at 76 mph with solid control. Faul also mixed in a 72 mph breaking ball with little feel for the pitch. Faul ran a very good 7.10-sixty and showed good foot speed on the bases and defensively. He is a solid follow as a SS/OF, and his combination of speed and power potential could be impressive.
