Zach Ward is a slender and projectable 2006 right handed pitcher from Ft. Myers, Florida. He has some mechanical issues to work through, but shows a quick and loose arm that could develop some top level MLB velocity in the future. Ward topped out at 85 mph in Fort Myers, and we’ve seen him up to 86-88 mph in the past. Ward’s the kind of pitcher who doesn’t start hitting his top velocity until he’s thrown 35-50 pitches. Ward’s breaking ball is a 68 mph downer curveball that he aims a bit, but gets good 12/6 rotation on. Ward’s change up is in the beginning stages of development. Ward’s arm is very quick, but he might improve even more by staying back over the rubber longer. Zack is a big time sleeper who could easily develop into a draft pick out of college. He is a very good student as well.

Zach is a lean lanky pitcher who is very projectable. He is a young 2006 who's fastball will range from 78-80 from a 3/4 arm slot. His curve was at 65-68 with some bite. He also flashed an occasional splitter that had good sinking action. As he grows and fills out he's going to be real good. He has pretty solid mechanics, so it's going to be there for him. Good student.
