Matthew Kirk is a 2013 C/RHP with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Eureka, CA who attends St. Bernard Catholic HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength. Wide set catching, stays low and flexible, quick actions, very good raw arm strength, 1.90 best pop time, aggressive receiver. Right handed hitter, long swing with loose extension out front, has some strength, ball carries well when squared up, will have to work on shortening up. Also pitched, rotational back turn delivery, compact high arm circle, tends to not get fully unrotated back to the plate from the stretch, Steady low 80's fastball, good run and sink, very nice slider spin, good bite and depth, softer curveball with some downer depth. Mixed well from the windup and dominated. High energy player who has lots of fun on the field. Very good student.
