2003 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
We’d heard reports that Haney had been touching 86 mph earlier in the summer. Unfortunately, the loose 6-0, 185 pitcher worked in the 77-80 mph range in Chapel Hill so we weren’t able to see his best stuff. Haney did show a high 60’s breaking ball that had some promise and was aggressive about using his low 70’s change up. We’d like to see him again when he has all three pitches working for him. He did show a good feel for pitching and some outstanding personal qualities. Zach is a very good student.
