Zack Buchta is a 6'2" 210 pound 2006 right handed pitcher who is a big strong kid with a large frame and build that ran a 8.03 60 and showed some good arm strength on the mound with a 84 mph fastball and 73 mph breaking ball. He really comes to play with high energy and tempo to his game. On the mound, he has a 3/4 arm slot with good command and control with all of his pitches. When Zack gets on top of his curveball he shows the ability to have a late break and some depth to it. He settled down in the 2nd inning and was able to throw more quality strikes and show that he has feel for his change up and had great potential. Buchta has good arm speed and is a little herky jerky in his delivery but this gives him some deception. Zack is a 2006 grad from San Ramon Valley High School in Alamo, California where is showing top notch grades.

We’ve gotten to know the Buchta’s pretty well recently; Zach’s brother Nick has played on Perfect Game teams and shown himself to be a solid two-way prospect. Zach is 2 years younger and looks like he’s going to become a good prospect of his own accord. He has a solid athletic 6-1, 175 lb frame that’s very projectable for a 15 year old. Zach threw 78-81 for us with good sinking action that induced plenty of ground balls. His best pitch was a sharp 64 mph curveball that has lots of potential. Zach also showed us a nice straight change at 67 mph. He also flashed some power potential at the plate. He’ll be one to watch in the next few years. Zach is a very good student.
