Will Kent is a 6' 190 pound 2007 catcher and right handed pitcher from Midlothian, Virginia who attends James River High School. He has very good speed for a catcher running a 7.42 60 and 4.67 down the line. Will has very good arm strength and quick actions behind the plate. During the workout, he had a pop time of 1.92 and a top velocity of 71 mph and his throws were right on the money. At the plate, Kent has good hand strength and attacks the ball with a little loft in his swing. He has a very good approach with a short swing and good balance. He pitched and his fastball topped out at 79 mph showing even more arm strength. He spun some good curveballs at 61 mph. Will was named to the Top Prospect game and needs to have an eye kept on him. He is also a very good student with a 3.5 gpa.

Will Kent is a 2007 catcher from Midlothian, Virginia, with a 6'0", 190 lb. frame. Kent can flat out hit, and is a big time hitting prospect. He took a great batting practice, and showed present college level bat speed and power. He is explosive to the ball and has very strong hands. Kent uses a nice hip coil load with a no stride approach. He can crush the ball with wood, and really squares up well on balls low in the zone. Kent is explosive and quick with big time power potential. He has an athletic looking body and should only get stronger. He posted some very good pop times with a range from 2.02 to 2.10, and a velocity range of 71 to 74 mph. Kent has quick feet, quick transfers, and his throws stay around the bag with good carry through the bag. Kent does tend to lurch his head at release which creates a herky type look to his actions. We feel he can smooth that out, and will be a sub 2.0 catcher in the near future.
