Wally Gentry is an '06 athletic MIF from Phenix City, Alabama with a lean body. He shows good range with good reads and an instinct for the ball. His arm is strong, and fast at 79mph (IF) and has normal flexation. His transfers are fluid and quick with efficient feet. He shows a nice soft glove that receives well. He is a hustler with a tough mental attitude. At the plate he hits from a medium base and straight stance with a short stride that shows some weight transfer into contact. He has a short load into a medium length swing that lift in it's plane. He has strong arms and hands and generates good bat speed. He is a contact type hitter that uses all fields well. He is a nice young athlete that has a lot of growth ahead of him. One to watch closely as he developes further. Wally is a good student.

Wally Gentry -- Gentry is a slim 5-11 sophomore second baseman from Alabama. He showed us good infield actions in the middle of the field and projects to be a solid defender in the future. Gentry hits from a no load, no stride approach with a line drive swing path. The wood bat looked a little heavy in the 145 pounder’s hands at times but he battled and had good at bats in games. We’re betting that Gentry is a very good game hitter with metal right now because he showed us the ability to make adjustments and get his hands to the ball. Wally is a good student.
