Tyler Wilson is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Midlothian HS, residing in Midlothian, VA. He has a lean, very athletic build with long legs on Also showed ability to hit.
a 6'2" 184 lb. frame. Wilson has some good present day ability and projectability that had him ranked #45 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. He has a quick, loose arm, though with a little effort in his arm stroke. His stroke creates some leverage at release point and he did a nice job with his lower half of allowing his hand to get out to good extension, providing more life on his pitches. His mechanics are a bit complicated, with a drop of his head that would seem to make him lose sight of the plate, but he has good direction down the slope and commanded his hand well. Wilson showed the ability to pitch to both sides of the plate with his 85-90 mph fastball and he was particularly good to the opposite arm side. He got some riding action on the heater, though it was mostly straight. Impressive was his ability to get out with the fastball and the aggressive nature with which he threw it, signifying that he has confidence in old number one. Wilson showed nice command of his 76 mph curveball. With that type of velocity on the breaker, he has a chance to develop an above average curveball to go with an average fastball. Wilson showed pretty well with the bat in BP, a good indication of his athleticism; he ran 7.62 in the 60. Looks to be a college arm, with a chance to go out after a college career. If that breaking ball gets a bit better, he could have a chance to go out after high school.

Tyler Wilson is a 2007 RHP/IF from Midlothian High School in Midlothian, Virginia, with a 6'1'', 178 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team. On the mound he has very good arm strength from a 3/4 arm slot, and has smooth and balanced mechanics. His fastball has good late life at 88 mph and he projects to throw harder in the future. The life on his fastball causes him to miss the strike zone at times, but he has a very live arm that can blow it by hitters. Wilson also mixes in a hard slider at 79 mph with very tight rotation that can be an out pitch at the next level. He also showed feel for his changeup that he threw at 76 mph. Wilson has a great future on the mound and needs to be followed. At the plate he hits from a crouched stance and he swings hard. He rips through the ball with slight lift in his swing showing good bat speed. Wilson makes solid contact, and has very projectable power. He is a two-way prospect with great upside. He is also a great student.

Wilson is a 5-10 sophomore right handed pitcher from Virginia. He has long arms and legs and looks taller than his listed height and projects well for the future. Wilson has good pitching mechanics for a young pitcher and a loose arm that extends well out front. He pitched at 80-82 mph with his fastball with some running action and showed good command of this pitch. Wilson’s breaking ball was a 68 mph curveball. He overthrew it at times but when he got the right feel it has some sharpness and good bite. Wilson has a strong set of base skills to work from as a pitcher and will keep improving. He also shows potential as a hitter/infielder. Wilson’s fielding actions are smooth and athletic and he has plenty of arm strength. He hits from a wide stance at the plate with a rock an load and generates very good bat speed with extension and power projection. Wilson put a charge in a couple of balls in BP and hit well in the games, too. Wilson is very young for a sophomore and is going to keep getting better. Good follow. He is also an excellent student.

Tyler Wilson is a 2007 RHP from Midlothian, Virginia, with a 5'10", 170 lb. frame. Tyler is very athletic and lean with broad shoulders and a flat chest which should really fill out over the next few years. Wilson has very good arm speed for his age, and would impress college coaches at any level. He has a very polished and clean delivery, and hits all his leverage points. He also has an on line stride, and outstanding low and through finish. You can tell he has worked at his delivery. His fastball was 79 to 81 mph with heavy action. Wilson also has a very nice 12 to 6 curveball that showed very good rotation around 66 mph. He keeps his arm speed on the curveball, and it should be a very good out pitch. His change up showed very well from 66 to 68 mph, with good arm speed. Top level college coaches will want to see him this summer. Wilson is a high projection pitcher. He also put on a show at the plate. Wilson is a right handed hitter with very good balance and clean movements. He has good bat speed and hand strength. He uses a slight rock back load, and has very good torque in his swing. Wilson has college level hitting tools, and squares up well on the ball in all parts of the zone. Wilson posted a 5.67 forty time with long strides and normal running actions. He is a top level two way prospect.
