2014 Sunshine West Showcase
Oliver Messier is a 2014 RHP/OF/MIF with a 6-5 175 lb. frame from Tracy, CA who attends Delta Charter HS. Tall very slender build. Showed similar stuff as he did at Sunshine South Showcase but added a couple of miler per hour to fastball in this outing. Good balance through his signature high leg kick, long stride, opens early, varied timing patterns out of stretch, difficult to repeat and would benefit from simplifying. Ocassional extension out front when all of levers are on time, would be able to repeat with more streamlined mechanics. Fastball tails with sink and run to the arm side, reached maximum velocity within first few pitches and then gradually declined, with lower effort warmup can begin to maintain stamina better. Threw strikes and competed well again, as he has done consistently. Good student.
