Trey Lucas is a 2006 catcher/outfielder from Knoxville, TN with a medium build that shows strength at 6-0, 175 lbs. Lucas is a very good athlete for a catcher and it shows in his defensive ability. He showed 79 mph arm strength during drills with a best pop time of 1.84. His transfers are very quick and efficient. Lucas runs the 60 in 7.05 and is very quick on his feet, which helps his blocking and ability to receive the ball. Offensively, Lucas has a bit of backward lean in his set up and some loft in his swing. He generates nice bat speed and shows pull power to left field. Lucas will keep improving his all around tools as he gets stronger and older and his defense already plays at a high level. Very good prospect. Lucas is also a very good student.

Lucas is a 6-0 right handed hitting junior catcher from Tennessee. He has long limbs for his size and good wiry strength. Lucas is one of the quicker prospect catchers you’ll see, both in his running speed (7.12 in the 60) and in his quick twitch muscles on offense and defense. Lucas hits from a slightly open stance and gets his hands and weight back well to start his swing. He has a hard, aggressive swing with a very nice path to the ball and good extension on contact. Lucas showed power to right centerfield during batting practice and followed that up in games with a double and triple to the same place on the field. Lucas had good swings against both mid 80’s fastballs and against slower curveballs when he kept his hands and weight back, which is good to see on a young hitter. Defensively, Lucas has very good quickness behind the plate. His arm strength is solid at 77 mph and his pop times in workouts consistently under 2.00. Lucas is a very good student, too. Good Follow.
