Trevor Pippin -- Pippin is an extremely projectable young athlete who lists himself as a primary pitcher but who looks like a position player. Despite his slender 6-3, 170 lb frame, Pippen generates very good bat speed with nice extension and some loft to his swing. Pippen has an open wide stance and clears his hips a bit early to create torque. He should destroy inside pitching, especially if the ball is low. Pippen is also a good runner at 7.13, on a slow track, who could get faster as he matures, so it’s worth looking at him as an outfielder as well as a first baseman. He’s already an MLB average runner. Pippen took a 3 inning turn on the mound and showed a good feel and command for his pitches. His fastball was in the upper 70’s and he threw a 65-67 mph curveball that had some depth to it and will mismatch most high school hitters. He should definitely keep pitching but we’d think it would be as a sideline at this point. Looks like a very good position prospect.
