RHP/IF Tony Langford: Langford is an aggressive and talented athlete who is a legit two way player at the college level. He throws 88-90 mph off the mound with a sharp low 70’s curveball and his aggressive approach can be intimidating to hitters. Langford’s natural arm strength carries over into the field, although his infield actions are a bit rushed and max effort. Needless to say, when Langford swings the bat, he swings it hard but he does a good job staying inside the ball and hitting line drives. Langford also ran a 6.89. This is a great makeup player who has signed to go to Notre Dame.

Langford is a live bodied athlete with two present average big league tools in his arm strength and speed. He has an aggressive full hack at the plate and hits the ball hard in games, also running the bases with the same aggressiveness. What position Langford ends up at is open to question. With a quicker release, he would be ideal for second base but primarily he played the left side of the infield at Chapel Hill. On the mound, we expected Langford to get up near 90 because of his loose arm, but perhaps because of the time of the year and all the defense he plays in the field, Langford “only” threw 84-86 mph. We’d enjoy seeing him again with a fresh arm. Langford’s breaking ball showed some sharpness at 70-71 mph. Tony is a top student and should end up at a top academic/baseball school.

Very athletic "04" INF with plus running ability and plus arm. Shows nice INF actions and great carry on his throws. Good baseball body with projection left. Like to see him hit some more. He has definite hitting ability, but he was kind of over striding a little in Ft Myers. Very good prospect that needs to be followed closely.

Langford is an 04 who plays for keeps. We love watching him play at his 100% effort level. He can pitch and he can play. Keep an eye on him!
