Ricky West is a 2015 RHP with a 5-9 183 lb. frame from Louisville, KY who attends Ballard HS. Square shouldered athletic build, good strength for his age. Well paced delivery, stays on line and tall, throws downhill with leverage, high 3/4's arm slot, good mechanics he repeats very well. Steady 82-84 mph fastball, mostly straight, works fastball down in the zone, occasional arm side fading action. Sweeping curveball, generates spin but tends to get on the side of it, slows delivery on change up, throws strikes with both off speed pitches. Has an idea how to pitch, especially for his age. Right handed hitter, gets to front side early with long stride, aggressive and short to the ball, can get to the inside pitch, good hand strength, line drive swing plane and approach. Good student.
