Steven Mazzurco is a 2005 outfielder/third baseman from Selden, New York, with a strong 5'11", 185 lb. frame. Mazzurco is another of the cold climate players who performed well in the showcase games. He got on base all but one time in Ft. Myers. He hit the ball hard with good bat speed, and showed the balance and hands to hit the outside breaking ball. Mazzurco has a strong upper body, and hits the ball with authority to the pull side. He has a good approach at the plate and shows the ability to hit for average and power. Defensively he has some arm strength from the outfield with solid actions. Mazzurco is also a very strong student, and should have a good college career. He has signed with Stonybrook.

Steven Mazzurco is a 5'10", 185 lb. outfielder from Selden, New York. Steven showed good arm strength in the OF with 80 mph velocity. He has a long arm arch and will need to speed up his release time to be more effective in college. He gets very little help from his body in his throws and we feel with more use of his body to generate leverage, he will speed up his transfers and add to the carry on his throws. A right handed hitter with a medium stance and a no load approach. Steven shows good bat speed and a short, quick bat path. He has a simple approach with late attacking action. Steven showed a high percentage of hard contacts with a line drive swing plane. Shows plus power middle of the plate and in. Keep an eye on Steven, he could be a big power guy down the road. He is an excellent student.

Steven Mazzurco is a physically solid 5'11" right handed hitting outfielder from New York with some good raw tools. In addition to his present strength, Mazzurco also is a very good runner with good overall body life and instincts. He has the raw bat speed and hand strength to become an excellent college hitter and he showed some power in Fort Myers, but will have to rework some of his swing mechanics to hit consistently against the highest level pitching. He currently hits from a tall stance with little lower half involvement and inconsistent upper body balance. The tools are there to hit, though. Mazzurco also showed good arm strength from the outfield in addition to an accurate arm. He can run, throw and hit with power. Steven is a very good student.
