Stuart Brown is a 2013 RHP/3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Midlothian, VA who attends Trinity Episcopal. Compact athletic build. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot, long winding arm action, wraps in back, works through wrap. Delivery pulls momentum to 1B side, front side opens early, finishes pitches well. Threw a lot of sliders, ability to throw it for strikes, good break to glove side but more of a chase pitch until he can locate it on the arm side, tends to back up on him when he throws it to arm side. Has a good understanding of how to throw the slider and how to utilize it but still improving feel, good HS slider. Fastball has tailing action, steady and consistent velocity, mechanical improvements would make a big difference for him, has raw tools to work with. Quick bat, slight uppercut path, lacks weight shift in swing, loose hands, raw power potential but needs to shift weight through the ball better to unlock it. Good lateral agility and footwork in the infield. Excellent student.
