Pitches from a low 3/4 arm slot, short loose arm action, arm works well, has arm speed, simple turn and throw mechanics, stays tall and throws downhill, balanced delivery, attacks hitters. Curveball has 11-5 break to it with downward action, it has good depth and bite to it, ball comes out clean, fastball has arm side run. Has a plan on the mound, is confident, keeps his poise. Alex Watkins is a 2014 LHP with a 6-2 135 lb. frame from Albertville, AL who attends Albertville HS. Very slender build, developing strength. Simple turn and throw pitching mechanics, tends to drift out in delivery, stays balanced, arm works well coming through, some recoil on release. Primary fastball pitcher, mid to upper 70's fastball topped out at 78 mph, good arm side running action, tries to spot fastball and has an idea. Curveball flashed good depth and bite, potential solid second pitch. Change still developing. Good arm that should keep improving with additional strength. Good student.
