Defensively, he has developing actions with developing footwork. He throws with a short arm action with developing arm strength. At the plate, McFarland starts with a wide base and swings on a line drive plane. He has an aggressive approach and is strong at the point of contact. He has some juice in his bat when squared up and has some raw power. Very good student.
