Howard is a big and strong 6-3, 200 lb right handed pitcher from Kentucky. He threw 3 scoreless innings at the showcase, pitching with an 80-82 mph fastball that had some nice arm side run on occasion. Howard can improve his velocity by getting more out of his strong lower half. He will improve his command and effectiveness by working his fastball down in the zone better. His off speed pitch was 63-65 mph curveball. We didn’t see a change up. Howard is an excellent student who should qualify at just about any school he might apply to. He has a chance to be very good.

Spencer Howard is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Lexington, Kentucky, with a 6'3", 200 lb. frame. He has a well proportioned body with room to add even more upper body strength. Howard throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed and his arm works well. He has a quick leg raise with a balanced and well paced delivery. Howard has some life to his fastball that topped out at 86 mph, and he worked at 83-86 mph. He throws two types of breaking balls. He has a 12 to 6 curveball with depth, and a harder, sharper slider with late break. He throws strikes with all of his pitches. Howard has a projectable body, and he should add velocity in the future. He should be a solid college pitcher, and is an outstanding student.
