Nick Rooney is a 2014 OF/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Minnetonka, MN who attends Prior Lake HS. Large projectable frame with a solid athletic build. Starts out with a spread stance at the plate, quick good swing, good balance, aggressive approach, and makes solid contact at the plate. Shows good bat speed, squares the ball up, and is a gap to gap hitter. Has good arm strength from the outfield, long arm action, good foot work, looks good on fly balls, makes accurate throws to the plate. Pitches from a 3/4 arm angle, long loose arm action, deceptive delivery, stays tall on backside, hides the ball well, good extension out front. Throws strikes, good tempo, has a mound presence, fastball has riding life, and is aggressive with it. Is interesting 2-way guy to follow and is a outstanding student.
