Blake Cairnes is a 2014 3B/RHP with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Douglasville, GA who attends Hiram HS. Stocky strong build, fairly mature physically. Right handed hitter, bend knee stance, back side rotational hitter, long and strong swing with lift and extension, power approach, has raw bat speed and strength at contact, will have to learn to shorten up against high velocity stuff. 7.04 runner, long over the top arm action, good arm strength. Graded out higher as a pitching prospect at this event, high leg raise delivery, high 3/4's arm action, quick arm coming through. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 91 mph, mostly straight, showed nice feel and fading action on his change up, short slurve slider, threw strikes and challenged hitters with good firm stuff. Good student, verbal commitment to Memphis.
