Derek Thompson is a 2011 LHP/1B with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Teutopolis, IL who attends Teutopolis HS. Tall slender build, high hips,. Leg raise delivery, limited lower 1/2 use, extended 3/4's release, hard front side to throw off, downhill plane, arm works loose and easy. Consistent mid 80's fastball, have seen touch 90 in the past, mostly straight. Very good change up with sink and ideal arm speed, curveball is third pitch with short sweeping break, works ahead in counts and pitches aggressively.
