Ruari O'Connor is a strong solid 6'0/190 3B/C from River Forest, IL. O’Conner is making the transition from third base to catcher and first impressions are very positive. He shifted well and had game pop times as low as 1.93. O’Conner’s bat really plays high as a catcher and he hits solid line drives off all types of top level draftable pitching. He shows good arm strength from both 3B and behind the plate. He has good natural quickness and life to his body. He ran a good 6.97 on the Tropicana Field turf. He will hit for average and power at the highest levels of college baseball. His bat could create some serious draft interest as well. He uses the whole field to hit hard line drives. Rauri is an excellent student and we've been told he has verballed to FL ST as a sophomore. We don't know for sure if he will end up behind the plate but he sure profiles well at that position.

Ruairi O’Conner -- O’Conner is a strong, physically solid third baseman from Illinois. He has well developed hips and thighs and from watching his hitting style, looks like he has lots of strength in his hands. O’Conner hits from a balanced approach with a short, quick stroke right to the ball. He uses his hands very well, making adjustments to different pitch speeds and locations. O’Conner is going to hit some long balls with metal and he has the strength to hit wood bat HRs as well. He is an aggressive hitter who does a good job of maintaining control of his swing. O’Conner has some good agility and arm strength at third for a big player and should be a solid defensive third baseman. He runs fairly well for a big strong guy, in fact he does everything well. Could end up catching down the road. The bat is special! He’s a very good student as well.
