Of the dozen or so quality catchers at the National showcase, Causey was definitely one of the top three or four defensively. His body and build is very similar to the top rated Preston Clark’s and his defense is strongly comparable. Causey has quick short actions behind the plate, competes hard and shows above average arm strength, probably a tick better than Clark’s. His pop times were around 1.87 and hardly varied a hundreth of a second over the skills portion of the workout. To take the comparison one step further, Causey and Clark are both about 7.3 runners in the 60 who appear significantly faster on the bases. Ronald is an excellent player and student. He's going to get a lot of interest from highest level colleges and pro scouts.

Ronald was one of the top catchers in the Sunshine East. He had the best pop during the workout at 1.84 and popped a 2.03 and 1.98 in the games. He has good arm strength at 80 and shuts down the running game. He can also hit and showed good power. One of the better 04 catching prospects in the nation. Big time follow! Top line College and pro future.
