2005 South Underclass Showcase
Calhoun is a 5-7, 170 lb junior outfielder from Texas with a strong lower half. His best tool is his speed and he ran 7.17 in the 60 and showed nice range in the outfield chasing down some balls. He showed 78 mph arm strength during outfield drills with good on-line carry and accuracy. Calhoun hits from slightly crouched stance and raises up through the ball with an exaggerated upper cut swing trying to lift the ball. He showed good bat head skills during the games and made consistent contact in the air, including one booming triple to left centerfield, but his style is pretty much an all or nothing approach. Calhoun's strength does give him pretty good bat speed and the ball jumped on contact.
