Robert (Bobby) Ritz is a 2006 SS/2B from Providence HS in New Albany, IN, with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame. He ran the 60 in 7.40 and threw 81 mph during infield drills. Ritz has quick active feet in the infield and shows good range. He has enough arm strength to play shortstop and his helped out by a quick release and accurate arm. He hits from a narrow, upright stance with a slightly closed from side. Ritz is an upper body rotational hitter with a line drive swing plane and some bat speed. He's looking to pull the ball and gets his hands through to the ball well. Ritz showed some pop on contact and drove the ball well. He looks like a middle infielder with some offensive potential at the next level. He's a very good student off the field.

Ritz is a 6-0 junior middle infielder from Indiana. He has a nice athletic body with square shoulders and balanced actions. Ritz played very good defense during the showcase and had much better range than his running times would indicate. His hands work well and he showed good arm strength with a very accurate arm. Ritz’s arm stroke is unusual for a middle infielder and strongly resembles what you want to see in a catcher. We’re curious if Ritz has ever played that position before. At the plate, Ritz hits with a calm approach and balanced stance with a very good swing path to the ball. He can turn on the inside pitch and makes consistent hard contact. The ball jumps off his bat well. He’s a good hitter right now with bat speed and skills and should just get better with additional strength and maturity. Ritz is a good follow and a solid player for the next level. He is a good student, too.
