Jared Datoc is a 2014 RHP/MIF with a 5-9 190 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends Pace Academy. Shorter stocky frame, good present strength. Versatile player and two-way player at the next level. Rotational delivery with lots of deception, hides the ball well, compact arm in back, athletic delivery, 3/4's arm slot. Mid to upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, big running action at times, likes to bust right handed hitters inside with the fastball. Big sweeping slurve type breaking ball, good angle to the plate, gets hard spin and bite at times. Works very quickly and pounds the strike zone, very effective when pitching down. Versatile defensive player, can play all over the infield, stays low and works through the ball with soft hands, tends to trust his big arm strength too much at times. Right handed hitter, simple swing mechanics with a rock back load, swings hard, some gap to gap power, creates back spin at times. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to Georgia Tech.
