Jerrick is a 6-5 senior first baseman from Iowa with a Big League body and the potential to get very strong in the future. This is a young man who could be a sleeper if he keeps developing his batting approach. His swing is smooth and tension free with good bat speed and very good extension through the ball. There’s a lot of power in Jerrick’s swing that he isn’t showing right now and we caught a glimpse of it during the showcase games when he rocketed a double off the left field wall. Most of the time Jerrick has a contact approach and hits to all fields and rarely pulls the ball. With his swing, strength and leverage, though, he could be consistently attacking the ball and driving it hard. Jerrick is a good defender at first with good footwork around the bag. He is a very good student. Keep an eye on him!

R.J. Jerrick is a 2005 first baseman from Iowa City, Iowa, with a pro body at 6'5", 205 lbs. Jerrick showed solid defensive actions at first base with good hands and above average footwork. He has a nice and controlled power swing with plus bat speed. Jerrick has plus raw power, and shows the ability to hit to all fields. He tends to get jammed at times on inside pitches, but when he learns to get his hands in and the barrel on the ball, he is going to be a very good hitter. Jerrick will be an interesting prospect in a few years after he develops and gets some playing time at the next level. He has big time potential, he just needs to play and get more at bats against national level pitching. RJ is a very good student.
