Nicholas Kurash is a 6-0, 170 lb senior right handed pitcher from Illinois with a very quick and strong arm. Although he still has room for improvement, Kurash has really cleaned up his delivery during the past year, which enables him to use his natural talent better. He throws from a tall, on-line delivery and a high 3/4's to overhand release point that creates good downward plane to the plate. Kurash's fastball was 86-88 mph at the showcase and we've seen him in the low 90's in the past. His 77 mph slider was very sharp and tight and is his best secondary pitch. His 69 mph curveball was looser and more of a show pitch/change of pace. Kurash's 78 mph change up was a quality pitch with lots of deception and he should use it more often. Kurash is an aggressive pitcher who likes to challenge hitters with his fastball early in the count. When he's throwing the ball down in the strike zone he's very difficult to get good swings off of. Very good prospect. Good student.

Nicholas Kurash is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Hinsdale, IL with a lean build at 5-11, 165 lbs. He throws from a high 3/4's arm slot and has very good arm speed and a clean arm action. Kurash's delivery is a little frenetic but he stays balanced and repeats his mechanics well. His fastball topped out at 90 mph in Atlanta with some late life low in the zone. He throws two types of breaking balls, a 70 mph curveball and a 78 mph slider. His curveball break will vary between 11/5 and 12/6 when he really gets over it and makes it most effective. His slider can be tight at times as well. We didn't see a change up. Kurash mixes his pitches up well and has an idea of what he's doing on the mound.

Nick Kurash was one of the big surprises of the Indoor Showcase. He’s a 5'11", 2006, right handed pitcher from Illinois with a very live and quick arm. Kurash has a sound delivery with a short arm arch in back that hides the ball from the hitter and very good extension out front. He opens a bit early and lands on his left heel out front, but these are correctable delivery flaws. Kurash threw his fastball in the 88-89 mph range and topped out at 91 with some life. His best pitch was a 71-73 mph knuckle curveball that had true hard 12/6 downer bite to it. Kurash had some trouble controlling this pitch and it was big and sharp enough that this might continue to be a concern, but when he got it near the strike zone it was a nasty pitch that not many hitters are going to be able to make contact with. Kurash also threw a hard split finger as a change up. This is a very talented young pitcher who should get the attention of most all major college programs. Kurash is also a good student.
